The Rainbow Food program is designed in such a way that children enjoy the experience of preparing and consuming healthy food. Children are able to appreciate and enjoy eating healthy food, making it guilt free. The program involves children in the act of preparing food. It teaches them about food and helps them make better food choices, giving them access to nutrition, with emphasis on practical experience.

The Rainbow Food – Eating by Colour project consists of an eating and exercise program, which can be implemented in groups and requires workbooks and rainbow ropes. Orders for the workbook can be placed online. As part of the project, kids are encouraged to use rainbow coloured ropes for skipping activity daily for about 5 minutes, in the morning and afternoon. It is designed to prevent obesity and various health problems linked with poor eating habits.

On purchasing the workbooks, the child care centres, schools and parents can follow the instructions given online, on the use of different food items. A training video, notes for teachers and take home family packs for each student are also available.

The website offers tips in the type of lunchboxes to be chosen for children and lists recipes offering different coloured food for each day of the week.
